ABOUT:

Dr. Arijit Das is basically a Chemical Educationist and specifically an Inorganic Chemist. At present, Dr. Das is holding the post of HOD & Associate Professor (Inorganic Chemistry)Department of Chemistry, Bir Bikram Memorial College (BBMC), Agartala, West Tripura. He received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from Tripura University in 1998, 2001 and 2008 respectively. During the Ph.D., Dr. Das got ‘PMLPM’ research fellowship of T.U. for two yrs (2002-2004). Dr. Das completed his Post-Doctoral Research at “Synthetic Inorganic Laboratory” under the valuable guidance of Prof. M.K.Singh, Former Dean of Science & VC In-charge, Tripura University (April 2008 – Dec 2010). He joined as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Govt. Degree College, Dharmanagar, North Tripura on Jan -2011. Dr. Das received ‘State Civil Award for Scientific  and Environmental Activities’ dated Jan 21, 2026 from the Govt. of Tripura in the Statehood day celebration of Tripura dated Jan 21 2026.  

Apart from teaching assignments in the Govt. Degree College, he was also the Principal Investigator of two (02) SERB-DST Major Research projectunder the ANRF, SERB, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of IndiaNew Delhi amounted Rs. 46.37.808 (Forty Six Lakh Thirty Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Eight only) during the year (2013-2015) & (2022-2025) respectively.

Dr. Das is an nominated member of ‘American Chemical Society’ (ESTD-135 yrs ago) sinceDec-2013, senior fellow of Indian Chemical Society (2011-); Life Member of Indian Science Congress (2011-) and Indian Academic of Forensic Science (2010-).

‘American Chemical Society (ACS)’ conferred recognition to Dr. Das’s 38 formulae through his virtual presentation entitled ‘Formulae Based Time Economic Mnemonics in Chemical Education’ in the ACS conference ‘ACS Spring 2023’ on March 26, 2023.
